Women at Work

About Women at Work

The Women at Work initiative, founded by Michelle Boundy on International Women’s Day 2024, is dedicated to educating, empowering, and enhancing the lives of women in the workplace. It champions kinder, safer, and more inclusive environments, inspiring meaningful change and supporting women to thrive at every stage of their career journey. As part of this work, Michelle actively meets with Ministers, Commissioners, WHS Regulators, Unions, and Senior Government Officials to address the issues facing women at work. She also champions the outstanding efforts already underway across sectors to enhance women’s lives in the workplace and strengthen their ability to thrive long term.

Why We Need to Support Women at Work

According to the Australian Government, creating safer and fairer workplaces is essential to improving the experiences of women in the workforce and empowering them to thrive in their chosen careers. Closing the gap in labour market outcomes between men and women requires a united effort from government, industry, and the wider community. To truly support women, we must address both the structural and cultural barriers that limit their participation—particularly when entering, re-entering, or remaining in the workforce. Fostering a culture of respect, eliminating harassment and violence, and prioritising women’s safety and wellbeing are not just policy goals—they are foundational to meaningful, long-lasting change. When we commit to creating inclusive, respectful environments, we’re not only supporting women to succeed at work—we’re helping them lead empowered, fulfilling lives.

What We Do

At Women at Work, we offer expert consultation and strategic guidance to individuals, communities, and organisations looking to foster kinder, safer, and more inclusive workplaces. We do this by:

  • Advising on workplace culture assessments and improvement frameworks.

  • Guiding organisations to embed psychological safety and respectful behaviours through evidence-informed strategies.

  • Providing consultation on leadership development pathways that empower women to step into and succeed in leadership roles.

  • Offering strategic advice to employers, boards, and government stakeholders on gender equity, safety, and inclusion.

  • Supporting storytelling initiatives and campaigns that drive change and elevate lived experiences.

  • Engaging in high-level policy advocacy to address systemic barriers impacting women at work.

We are a trusted voice in workplace inclusion and equity—and a collaborative partner in shaping environments where women are empowered to thrive.
